چکیده
In this paper, we address the problem of multicasting in military “ad-hoc” wireless networks. Since such networks lack a fixed cellular infrastructure, multicast algorithms that are based on the availability of fixed, known topologies cannot be used effectively. Even when lhe locations of the nodes are fixed and known, the properties of the wireless medium create a networking environment that is vastly different from that of wired networks, and for which the multicasting problem has scarce ly been addressed. Specifically, the broadcast nature of wireless transmission and the dependence of range on transmission power create new opportunities for multicasting that need to be traded off against the interference caused by such transmissions. We address the ways in which wireless network characteristics, as well as the constraints of limited energy, affect multicast protocol operation. Preliminary trade-offs are provided, and future research directions are

LEBRP - A Lightweight and Energy Balancing Routing Protocol for Energy-Constrained Wireless Ad Hoc Networks
A wireless ad hoc network typically refers to any set of wireless networks where all devices have equal status on a network and are free to associate with any other wireless ad hoc network devices in their range. As the nature of these networks, they commonly do not have external power supplies, and each node has a limited internal power source. In this paper, we put forward a new routing proto...

In recent years, mobile ad-hoc networks have been used widely due to advances in wireless technology. These networks are formed in any environment that is needed without a fixed infrastructure or centralized management. Mobile ad-hoc networks have some characteristics and advantages such as wireless medium access, multi-hop routing, low cost development, dynamic topology and etc. In these netwo...
متن کاملEnergy Efficient Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks by Using Honey Bee Mating Optimization
Mobile Ad hoc networks (MANETs) are composed of mobile stations communicating through wireless links, without any fixed backbone support. In these networks, limited power energy supply, and frequent topology changes caused by node mobility, makes their routing a challenging problem. TORA is one of the routing protocols that successfully copes with the nodes’ mobility side effects, but it do...

متن کاملMulticasting of connectionless traffic in resource-limited ad hoc wireless networks
In this work we address the problem of multicasting connectionless (packet oriented) traffic in energy and transceiver-limited ad hoc wireless networks. We first investigate the novel trade-offs caused by connectionless traffic as opposed to session-oriented traffic. Then we develop a new multicasting heuristic that is based on a minimum incremental cost logic. We also discuss the medium access...
متن کاملBroadcast Routing in Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks: A Particle Swarm optimization Approach
While routing in multi-hop packet radio networks (static Ad-hoc wireless networks), it is crucial to minimize power consumption since nodes are powered by batteries of limited capacity and it is expensive to recharge the device. This paper studies the problem of broadcast routing in radio networks. Given a network with an identified source node, any broadcast routing is considered as a directed...
